Welcome
to our website and thank you for your interest in Xabia International
College, the only international school in Javea for pupils from 2
to 18 years. I hope that it will give you an insight into
our varied life here on the beautiful Costa Blanca.
XIC
was founded in 1994 to provide a quality education based on the English
National Curriculum within an international environment. The
school comprises Foundation, Primary and Secondary, offering continuity of education from Nursery to University. Our commitment to small class sizes enables us to provide a personal and individual education for every child. We strongly believe in working closely with parents in the
best interests of all our students, including liaising with our Parents and Teachers Association, 'The Friends of XIC' (FoXIC).
The current roll
of approximately 250 students is made up of children of some twenty
nationalities. The school is fully authorised to admit students of all
nationalities and to convalidate their studies in line with the Spanish
Education System, up to and including 6th Form.
As a multicultural international school, language teaching is prioritised. From the age of 2 all children are
immersed in a bilingual environment, stimulating the early acquisition of both
Spanish and English. Spanish
language and culture is taught throughout the school alongside the
English Curriculum, with other languages being introduced from the age
of 11. We welcome children of all nationalities, whatever their
level of English. Whilst the majority achieve fluency in the
language very quickly, we can provide additional language support if it
is needed.
Our
students' academic studies are complemented by
a wide range of activities both in school and within the local
community. Within the school our music, drama and sports programmes are
enhanced by the opportunity to be involved in orchestra, choir, drama,
performing arts and sports clubs. Private tuition in piano,
flute, drums
and guitar is also offered. Sports activities after school
include football, karate, multisports and modern dance. We have
close links
with local sports clubs and our music and drama students perform at
events throughout the year. Our pupils are represented on Javea's
children's council and regularly win prizes in local art and literacy
competitions.
